Episode 241 - Placeholder (WWYBD?!)

WWYBD (what would your bestie do) is where we answer listener-submitted questions. You can submit questions any time via our website, and then we pull questions to fit a specific theme.

In the catch up segment, Allison and Ceara share about their latest travels. Ceara had a fun friend-filled week. She went to Chicago for a wedding, shot her friend’s engagement photos, and did a 4 mile walk with a friend. Next week, Ceara and her sister are going to New York for two fun events so she’s looking forward to that.

Allison was in Omaha to check on her shop, see family, and get some paperwork done. Her highlight of the week was doing a professional maternity shoot at a studio. After she got back home to The Netherlands, she had a few lazy, restful days recovering from the long journey and jet lag.

In the WWYBD part of the episode, we answer questions about how to get over a breakup when you’ve been together for a long time and have children together, how to financially balance your own big life moments while supporting your friends' events as well, and some advice on how to get started solo traveling.

WWYBD QUESTIONS:

  • Tips to get over a breakup? We were together for 7 years and have two kids. It became toxic and abusive so I know I made the right decision to protect me and my kids.

  • One of my friends is having her 30th birthday in Tulum. She’s been supportive of myself and our other friends who are recently married by attending our events. Unfortunately, because of all the destination weddings I’ve already committed to this year, I can’t financially swing her birthday trip and she’s really upset. Am I a bad friend?

  • You both have inspired me to try some solo traveling to get outside of my comfort zone! As a fellow midwest girly, do you have any travel recommendations in the midwest so I can start small?

TAKEAWAYS:

  • Catching up with college friends can be refreshing and uplifting.

  • Breakups require time and reflection to heal.

  • Keeping a journal can help process negative feelings after a breakup.

  • It's okay to say no to expensive trips or events if it's not feasible.

  • Friendship dynamics can shift during significant life events.

  • The Midwest offers great opportunities for solo travel and friendly encounters.
